A syzygy is the nearly straight-line configuration of three celestial bodies (as the sun, moon, and earth during a solar or lunar eclipse) in a gravitational system.
NOTE: On April 8, 2014, Mars, Earth and the Sun were in alignment, causing Mars to stand out brightly in the sky! And THAT, my friends, was ALSO a syzygy!
