I came across this site from http://google.com and decided to read up on how to embed a mp3 player onto my website.
Well, I have been stuck on the site for over 3 1/2 hours now watching movies, listening to music and kickin back with the singin horses.
I am curious about something that maybe you can help me out with?
I have geocities.yahoo.com hosting my first webpage, and found that they do not support the .m3u extension and was curious if there was another way to do the embed of the WMP without the .m3u?
I only need one song to play when a person comes to the page.
If you could help out with that, I would like to get a banner/ad of some sort to help bring in traffic to your website.
by the way, nice site...wish I had the knowledge you have now...would make things a whole lot easier.

Hello...
I had been searching the web for information on how to stream some Audio Music Samples from my website......when I came across your site.
At last....here was something I could understand and did exactly what I wanted.
I'm no expert by a long long way. My background is in FM radio. 3 years back I started my own creation "Kute"....and
the plan is set to start streaming radio next year. In the meantime I simply wanted to put some Music Samples on my site, which worked as I wanted.
I used your script etc and tried on an obscure page of my site.....brilliant. Thanks.
Anyway.......I'm glad I got to your site, coz my eyes have been opened! Fantastic design, looks & works really well. Has class.
Then I looked back at my site....God...Having my website was essential but my time is dedicated to the music side etc. I just ploughed into things with Frontpage..........created a site (somehow) which was quick easy and hopefully basically sound.
Now I want my site designed like this? Any suggestions as I neither have the time to learn or the natural ability!!

Hi Tom,
I saw your link from the winamp forum and I am glad I did. Thank you for being so helpful with your help and coding for embedding WMP. It is hopefully what I am looking for. Incidently just to let you know I am nearly 65 years old retired and my aim is to try to help musicians get a little more exposure thru the web. I have been studying HTML 4.1 for about a year on and off and used Dreamweaver to create a quite mellow type web site, nothing special, no gizzmos ect, even some of my own music is about 25 years old that I recorded onto cassette tape, but as I said I want to try to help in my own small way other musicians.
I really like your juke box, brilliant!
Also I hope you may be able to help a old uncle when I need some help.

Actually, it's a bit difficult referring to someone as "uncle" when that person isn't much older than myself, but that's okay.
I don't know what link it was at the Winamp forums that directed you here, but I have no doubt that it was probably a link I posted in some obscure thread somewhere there that you inadvertantly stumbled upon.
I've just visited your site at Alpha Music World and you've done a fine job there, which tells me that your HTML 4.1 studies coupled with your use of the Dreamweaver application seems to have paid off. Hopefully, in time you will eventually drop the need to use any GUI interface like Dreamweaver and instead code entirely by hand with a text editor (eg: EditPad which is what I use). That way, you'll have more control over your pages and you'll be able to ensure that the pages display identically cross-browser, and also ensure that all pages conform to W3C recommendations and pass as valid HTML.
If you are interested in the scripting necessary to accomplish streaming your music samples directly through the browser (perhaps with the selections on this page at your site), and if you are unsure of how to go about doing so, then refer to my article on How to stream music or audio from your website. If you run into problems and need additional help, then register at my Message Board, and then log in and start a New Topic in my WebSite Woes forum. I'll then devote time in the New Topic you start to help you set up the scripting to stream music from your site directly via the browser.

Hi, I would like to know why Im getting this message from my firewall everytime I start Winamp:
Winamp is trying to connect to nunzioweb.com ( 66.235.200.167 ) using remote port 80 (HTTP- World Wide Web). Do you want to allow this program to access the network?
Im totally amateur on this firewall stuff, so I would like to know what is going on.

Hello Leo,
It is most likely due to DrO's JTFE (Jump To File Extra) plugin checking for a new version upon Winamp startup. JTFE has been included as part of the official Winamp distribution ever since Winamp v5.02.
DrO's site and all of DrO's Winamp plugins are hosted here at nunzioweb.com.
So, you have 2 options...- Allow firewall access to nunzioweb.com (don't worry - nunzioweb.com is a trusted site). That way you'll be notified of any new JTFE distros and you can upgrade when that happens (will happen soon btw, for the very next release)
- Disable Winamp's checking for new versions of the JTFE plugin at startup. Refer to this screenshot to see exactly where in Winamp's Preferences you can go to UNcheck/disable JTFE new version checking.

Anyway, really nice music. Congratz. Reminds me of two old friends of mine.. Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman and their band from years ago, when they first started... back around 1970-1972. They called themselves Aztec Two-Step back then and still do and are active today.
This is their site > Aztec Two-Step
They started out years ago playing the local New York bars at that time (which I would frequent in my "younger years"). I used to hang and party with Rex and Neal. Their very first album (Aztec Two-Step) contained many of their hits from when they played the local NY bars, and especially at my favorite hang-out at that time -- The Right Track Inn, in Freeport, NY. Of course, the RTI no longer exists. Disappeared back in the 80's, unfortunately. I loved that bar. Ahhh well. Good things never last, do they?
Anyway, IMHO you guys have a very similar style. Especially the guitars. Needless to say, I really like your music.
My niece, Angela, also has a band site > Slick City
Angela and the rest of the guys in her band have a unique Country style.
Some of Slick City's song samples can be played directly through your browser, using the Automated Jukebox script I created for my niece, here on this page > Song Samples
Angela has the voice of an angel, and I love her and I'm very proud of her.
Maybe you guys should consider a different way of offering your sample songs on this page > Music
Right now, you only link to the actual MP3 files themselves. This kinda "forces" the site visitor to download and play the MP3's in a media player application installed on their puter. Maybe you should consider "streaming" the music directly through the web browser, similarly to the way I do so right here at my site, either as I do in my Multiple Track Stream Example, or even as I do with my Automated Jukebox (and as my niece does with her Automated Jukebox).
You should also take note of the fact that with my Multiple Track Stream Example, that besides streaming directly through the browser, I also offer the entire playlist for download in case people want to stream the songs directly through a media player they have installed on their puter (eg: Winamp). So, setting it up that way is the best of both worlds really.

The looping effect you are looking to achieve can not be done with the Media player object-n-embed coding. It will not recognize a "loop" parameter. However, there is a workaround, utilizing an iframe and a META tag refresh. Here is an example I've temporarily uploaded to my server. I've used your existing "llamajoy.avi" file located at your Geocities server. If you were to move the AVI file from it's current location there, then my example would no longer work. But for now, since it does exist at it's current location, my example will indeed work.
If you are interested in what I did to accomplish the "looping" effect you are looking to achieve, this Guestbook is very limited insofar as my posting the necessary code. This is something that needs to be discussed at my Message Board, and not in my Guestbook. In that case you need to first register at my message board and then after registering, log in and post a new topic (thread) in the "Website Woes" forum at the board with an appropriately named topic title (eg: How can I loop an AVI file on a web page?), and I'll specifically devote time to help you in that new thread, once I receive auto-email notification that a new registered member has posted. I may not reply immediately though, but I will reply. Lately I haven't had time to reply to a few other posts in my forum due to my current schedule. I need to reply to those few posts, as well as yours, if you decide to post at the Message Board. I'll try to get to all of them at some point during this weekend.
Also, in your current coding, are you aware of the fact that your AVI file displays at a width of 580 px and a height of 556 px in the Internet Explorer browser? But in all other major browsers it displays at a width of 280 px and a height of 256 px. I'm certain that you did not intend this to happen, and changes to your existing code would be needed to fix that. The example I created for you displays your AVI file at a width of 580 px and a height of 556 px in all browsers, and not just in the IE browser. Again, that fix, as well as any other coding I need to show you must be done at my Message Board and not here in the Guestbook.

I had searched for 'streaming music code html mp3' on Google and your site actually came up as the 5th or 6th hit.
I wanted to share some jokes with you seeing that our humor is quite parallel (or perpendicular?)
* It's not easy being a comedian. I mean, you try to entertain people, and all they do is laugh at you!
* I remember deciding to become a comedian at a very early age when my father took me aside and left me there!
* My father was not a great dad. One time, my hair caught on fire and he tried to put it out with a pitchfork!
* My dad was also not very bright. When I was 6, I asked him where babies came from, and he said "The stork!".I replied incredulously "You f*cked a stork???"
* My dad was an inventor, but he wasn't very good. He invented a smoke alarm that lets you sleep in an extra ten minutes!
* He wasn't good with childhood situations either. I was a bed-wetter, and he tried to cure it by buying me an electric blanket!
* My dad came very close to having sex with a model...but then the glue melted and one of the wings fell off!
You may have heard these, but as they say, a good joke always returns.
Back to playing with streaming media files....I'm still having a little trouble but I'm enjoying the troubleshooting. Just got into playing with websites and it's a blast.
By the way-that jukebox thing you have going. Couldn't you give it a friendly interface for uploading and sell it to the public? It's quite impressive. How about selling the code? :)

Aahh... it would appear as if my site does come up in the top results of that Google search, regardless of the fact that I have no meta tags in place that search engines can pick up on. I would imagine that it has something to do with the many hits my streaming audio article gets, coupled with the fact that the Google engine is one of the best on the net.
Yep... your jokes are pretty funny and also bear a resemblance to my twisted sense of humor. However, I don't refer to the random thoughts that spew forth from my brain as jokes. I prefer to call them "mind-farts". Much more appropriate. 
You said that you're still having a little trouble with streaming media at your website but that you're enjoying the troubleshooting. I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit here and yes... I do have a rather "bizarre" sense of humor, but hey! That's me!
Insofar as my musical tastes are concerned... well, I consider myself pretty much eclectic in that regard. I enjoy most music and I'm pretty much open to anything, other than rap or hip-hop. Although I've tried (and believe me - I've tried), I just can't deal with listening to that style of music. If I were to attempt to narrow down the field and choose my favorite music I'd have to say that I favor rock-n-roll or soft rock from the late 60's through the 70's, since that is most of the music I'd listened to in my "younger" years. Yes - I'm an old fart, well on my way past that half-century mark now.
Now, I have a rather broad mix of music in both my Automated Jukebox and in my Multiple Track Streaming Example playlist, but many of the selections were included as a result of "requests" by site visitors. Now this does not mean that I'll include just anything. If somebody requests an addition I of course will not add it unless I like it as well.
Ya know, I often wonder how people even find my site since I never submit it to any search engines. The site's a bit too "wacky" for that. For instance, I have no idea who you are and I also am curious as to how you stumbled upon my site. And people rarely say how they found my site when they sign the guestbook. I think I might revise this guestbook to also include a field where the site visitor can indicate how he/she found my site. Yes - I think I'll consider adding that in the near future.

Hi, Iv got the music streaming fine on my site, but could you send me the code of how u made the multitrack one where you actually select the song thats playing? Or the juke box. Other people won't know wahat playing. Or is there a way to get the module to disply the song name?

Hello Domanic,
There is much more involved than providing simple code to do what you want. In order to select from a list it is required that in addition to the web page that contains object-n-embed coding for a multi-stream .m3u playlist, you also create individual .m3u files referencing preferably same-named .mp3 (or .wma) files for individual songs as well, and then create same or similar named HTML files (web pages) for them, as well as one "master" page so that they can all be selectable via a list of individual songs. If you look at the guestbook entry directly below this, you will see that I suggested to Jim Monan to reference the Music Room thread at my message board to see what was required when I helped Ken Browder in that regard.
You also asked, "Or is there a way to get the module to display the song name?"
Not possible without a right-click action initiated by the site visitor, as described in the track info thread at my message board, when I explained it to Streets in that thread, and where I also posted a screenshot demonstrating what I was talking about.
In this post within the Music Room thread, I basically explained what I just did in my first paragraph above to you when I said this...
Let me address a few things you said:- "Even though users won't be able to queue up songs for playing" --> the user need not queue up any songs due to the fact that a multi-stream playlist auto-queues each song in sequence as it plays without user intervention in a playlist where more than one song is present (multi-stream)
- "they can at least click on what they want" --> not possible with one multi-stream playlist (I'll explain below)
- "just let it play" --> that will automatically happen with one multi-stream playlist
In this post within the Music Room thread, I showed Ken all the files that needed to be created. In his case, although I rarely do this, I created them for him myself since he didn't know much about HTML and was lost. You would need to do the same for your site.
Go to the SevenTimes Music Room page at Ken Browder's site. When there, click on the "Click here to open the Music List and access the player" link he has there, and you will see the result of what I did for Ken in the Music Room thread at my board and how it is used at his site.
So, read through that Music Room thread, in it's entirety if need be, to see what needs to be done. And then, if you still need help, I will suggest to you what I also suggested to Jim Monan in the guestbook entry just below this...

And your site is not an "atari" site by any stretch of the imagination. I see that you have invested a lot of time and put a lot of work into it. I especially like the fact that you have memorialized those who fell on 9-11. I lost several friends on that horrible day. Some of them were police, many of them were fire fighters, and one of them was Joe Zuccala, my sister-in-law's brother and an all-around great guy. We all loved and miss him.

Hi Nunzio have learned a lot about streaming music from your site I was wondering if you could enlighten me about how you went about creating the embeded playlist on your jukebox so you can change songs by clicking on the link.

The jukebox script is way too involved for me to even begin to show you how it was done. Simply put, I manipulate HTML to auto-advance through songs in my Automated Jukebox. Each page is "timed" to automatically redirect to the next page (next song) in the list after a certain amount of time has passed, and that time is determined by any individual song's length (in seconds). That is how the Jukebox works. But if all you are interested in is the part of the Jukebox scripting where you can simply choose/ change songs by clicking a song link, then reference the Multiple Track Streaming Example located on the Main Page of my site. Maintenance on the Jukebox is much more difficult than maintaining the coding in use with the Multiple Track Streaming Example. You can also visit the "Website Woes" forum at my message board and look at specific threads where I've helped people with the same thing you are asking about.
View these threads in the "Website Woes" forum at my message board for some insight...
1. track list? (where I helped Maximillian)

Insofar as problems with the Firefox browser is concerned, the object and embed coding I use at my site (and also refer to in my article) will work flawlessly in the Firefox browser providing that the Windows Media Player Dynamic Link Library plug-in is installed. More specifically, "npdsplay.dll" needs to be able to be "found" by the Mozilla Firefox browser.
You can check to see if "npdsplay.dll" is indeed installed and recognized by Mozilla Firefox by typing this into the address bar of the Firefox browser...
about:plugins
On the resulting page, if you do not see an entry for "Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library" > "File name: npdsplay.dll", then that means that the plugin is not being recognized by Firefox and needs to be installed.
If you are using Windows Media Player 7.1 or later, Mozilla should in fact detect and then utilize the Windows Media Player plugin installed on your system. Netscape 7.2 uses the Windows Media Player ActiveX control if it is installed. To use the Windows Media Player ActiveX control with Firefox 1.0, see the "Embedded Windows Media/Launch.com in Firefox 1.0" thread at the MozillaZine Forums, written by Vectorspace.

The menubar that "scrolls" with the site does so for ease of navigation, and its purpose is fully explained in the Site Enhancements section located at the main page of my site. Although you may not need that type of menu navigation, I can assure you that many people do, and like using it, which is why I included it as an option. But then again, you can also view my site after having selected the static menu navigation style (created for people who claimed to experience vertigo, dizziness or nausea when using the sliding menu), which will provide a static menubar for you, which you appear to prefer. The 2 different menu styles are there for anyone to choose from and you can easily switch between both styles directly from whatever menu you are using. The ability to switch between the two styles is always there as a handy menu option. :)
